Road Closure Bylaw No. 1132-24 & 1133-24

Re: Road Closure and assigning Land Use District of a Portion of East Park Street

A recent application has been made to close a public road allowance and subsequently amend the Land Use Bylaw No. 987-11 to allow for the following:

  1. To close a portion of “East Park Street”.
  2. To amend Town of Raymond Land Use Bylaw No. 987-11 by designating the parcel of land to the Public and Institutional (PI-1) land use district.

FAQ’s

  1. What does Road Closure Mean?
    • Road Closure is the process of removing a public road allowance previously dedicated. A parcel of land with a title is created in its place.
    • Municipal roads through or adjacent to titled lands may be closed under the Municipal Government Act if it is determined by Alberta Transportation that the road is not required as part of the provincial transportation system and does not affect legal access to any properties.
  2. Can anyone propose a Road Closure?
    • No, it needs to be initiated by the Municipality.
  3. Why was this initiated?
    • The Town of Raymond is doing substantial road work in the area in conjunction with the new Raymond High School. The partial road closure with the assignment of a Land Use District, is an attempt to clean up encroachments and correct property lines.
  4. Is the Land Use Designation to Public and Institutional (PI-1) consistent with the Town of Raymond MDP?
    • Yes.
