Recently the province announced that a new High School will be built in Raymond over the next few years. The new High School will be located immediately south of VSP Comet Stadium on the existing fairgrounds location.

Victoria Sports Park Concept outlining New High School Location

In February 2020, Council met with representatives of the Stampede Society and the Raymond & District Agricultural Society and discussed the need for a new location. A number of scenarios were reviewed and a preferred site was selected. Since that time, the Town has diligently worked to acquire the land from the current owners but we have not been able to come to terms on a reasonable price to complete the transaction.

With the recent announcement and Westwind School Divisions’ goal to break ground on the new school in 2023, Council met with the Raymond Stampede and Agricultural Societies and discussed a new location that the Town owns that would be used as a permanent location. This location is 1km west of town, along Highway 52, has excellent exposure and visibility, and could possibly expand should the stampede desire to evolve in the future.

New Location of the Historic Raymond Stampede

There is still much that needs to be decided as to the look and feel of the future Raymond Stampede, but Council is optimistic that the community’s passion for this long-standing Canadian tradition will continue to support the Stampede as it moves into the next chapter of its storied history.

Come and be a part of history as we say goodbye to the historic Raymond Stampede grounds and as we welcome back Professional Rodeo to our 2022 Heritage Days Celebrations!
