In 2020 the Province and the Town agreed to cost-share the paving of Highway 845 within Raymond. Detailed design work was completed and the project went out for tender late last year. McNally Contractors was the winning bid and they have indicated that construction of this project is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2022, and best efforts are being made to have the project completed by August 15, 2022. During this time access to Highway 845 from adjacent streets in town will be reduced or restricted.
Once completed, Highway 845 will be paved to an urban standard, with street lighting and an extension of our walking trail network along the west side of Highway 845 from Highway 52 to Railway Avenue. This project will also extend the Town’s water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure to the east side of the road to facilitate future development.
The Railway Avenue/ Highway 845 intersection will also be realigned into a proper 4-way intersection with east/west traffic being stopped at the intersection by stop signs and north/south traffic flowing through the intersection.
The total cost for this project is $3,488,000 and the Town’s contribution is $540,000, or 15.5% of the cost. Council would like to thank the province for its continued investment in our community. This infrastructure will significantly improve the facilitation of traffic throughout our community.
