Town of Raymond – Council Volunteer Appreciation Award Winner Announced
Raymond’s Town Council is proud to announce the winner of the inaugural Council Volunteer Appreciation Award—a new initiative created to honour individuals who have made exceptional voluntary contributions to our community.
After reviewing the many heartfelt nominations submitted by residents, Council is pleased to recognize Pam Stewart as the first recipient of this prestigious award.
Andrew & Stacey Horlings, who nominated Pam, had this to say about her…
“Pam Stewart exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated community volunteer and leader. Her long-standing commitment to the Town of Raymond and the surrounding area is evident in her involvement with a multitude of local organizations. Pam has been — and continues to be — an active and influential member of non-profits such as the Agricultural Society, the Eagles, the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, Ridge View Lodge, and many more
community groups too numerous to name.
Within these groups, Pam’s contributions go far beyond simply attending meetings. She is known as a spark of innovation and a driving force behind successful events and initiatives. Notably, Pam was the visionary who started the July 1st “carnival,” designing engaging games and providing treats that quickly became beloved traditions for local children. What began as her inspired idea has since grown under the Town of Raymond’s stewardship into the major celebration that residents enjoy today.
A long time ago, another July 1st tradition also became especially close to Pam’s heart: the pancake breakfast. Year after year, Pam poured her energy and care into organizing this event, which continues to be a staple of the holiday. She loved seeing the crowds of people coming through for a free breakfast and felt a deep sense of community pride in bringing everyone together. The pancake breakfast remains a cherished event that connects neighbours and
celebrates the spirit of Raymond, thanks in large part to Pam’s enduring eƯorts and love for her community.
Pam is also highly attuned to the needs of local families and individuals. She is always quick to recognize when someone could use a helping hand, and she never hesitates to step forward with solutions or to connect people with those who can assist. Her compassion and proactive spirit have touched countless lives throughout the
community.
In addition to her organizational and leadership skills, Pam is an outstanding cook and baker. Whether whipping up a delicious meal for a family in need or running an entire concession stand for a community event, she approaches everything with energy and enthusiasm. Her culinary talents have nourished bodies and brought smiles to faces at countless gatherings.
Pam’s approach to service is hands-on and comprehensive: she isn’t one to just “pull up a chair” at committee meetings. Instead, she takes an active role in developing and executing memorable activities, while also managing essential aspects such as budgeting and finances with care and expertise. Her focus on both fun and fiscal responsibility ensures that every event and organization she touches is set up for lasting success.
Pam Stewart’s tireless volunteerism has helped shape many of Raymond’s treasured community institutions. Her warmth, creativity, commitment, and generosity make her an invaluable asset — and her positive impact will be felt for generations.”
Pam has dedicated countless hours to our community, and her commitment to service, compassion for others, and tireless energy embody the spirit of volunteerism that this award was created to celebrate.
The presentation of the award will take place during the halftime show of the 2025 Harvest Showdown on Friday, September 12, 2025. We invite the community to join us in celebrating Pam and in recognizing the contributions of all volunteers who help make Raymond a stronger, more connected community.
