During the May 6, 2025, Council Meeting, Council passed first reading of the Bylaw No. 1152-25: 2025 Tax Rate Bylaw.
The 2025 Tax Rate Bylaw has been calculated based on the 2025-2027 Operating Budget. Council worked hard to mitigate the impact this would have on our residents by reducing the residential mill rate by 4.53%. However, due to housing assessments increases and inflationary pressures within the towns’ operating and capital budgets, homeowners can expect to pay 3.87% more in taxes in 2025 than they did in 2024.
Non-residential properties can expect a 0.21% increase in the non-residential mill rate.
Overall, the town is collecting $204,359 or 5.5% more in total property taxes than we collected in 2024.
The Town of Raymond is also mandated by the Government of Alberta to collect an Education Tax on the Province’s behalf. This tax is not a source of revenue for the Town, and the Town does not set or control the rate. For 2025, the Education Tax has increased by 16.42% compared to 2024, and this change will be reflected on your Tax Notice.
Second and third readings of the 2025 Tax Rate Bylaw are scheduled for Tuesday May 20th. If approved, Tax Notices will be sent out to Raymond residents in the following days.
Upon receiving your notice, if you have any questions about your property assessment, contact Ryan Vogt at Benchmark Assessment Consultants by calling 403-381-0535 or 1-800-633-9012.
