The Town has notified the RCMP and CPOs that we will begin our 2021 Gopher Control Program this week. Gophers and Ground Squirrels can damage the landscape, carry diseases, and create holes that can injure people or other animals.
Beginning March 16 – March 19, two town employees will be using a pellet rifle and or placing chemicals to control gophers, weather permitting. The employee using the rifle will be a licensed gun user, and the other will be surveying the surroundings. Both will be wearing reflective vests and will be driving a Town branded vehicle while controlling gophers.
The contraption beneath contains a chemical named Rozol that the gophers take back to their burrows where it takes effect. Please keep your children away from these applicators.
