Council Preview: July 13

Council Preview: Monday, July 13

Council will meet on Monday, July 13, to consider several items related to community planning, governance, and future growth. The following is an overview of key items on the agenda.

Public Hearings:

  • Aspen Pointe Land Use Bylaw Amendment - Council will hold a public hearing regarding proposed changes to the Direct Control regulations for the Aspen Pointe development. The amendment would remove the requirement for a Homeowners Association and provide additional flexibility for fencing, landscaping, and residential design guidelines.
  • Land Use Bylaw Amendment - Council will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed change to the land use designation of one parcel. The amendment would change the designation from Urban Reserve (UR-1) to Parks & Open Space (POS-1).

Following the public hearings, Council will have the opportunity to consider second and third reading of both bylaws.

Community Standards Bylaw Review:

  • Council will review an updated version of the Community Standards Bylaw that incorporates feedback received from the community. Council may consider second reading of the bylaw following the review.

Municipal Development Plan (MDP) Update Launch:

  • Council will discuss the next steps for updating the Municipal Development Plan (MDP). This includes selecting a launch date for the community survey and choosing a date for a public open house where residents can learn more about the update, ask questions, and share their feedback with Council.

Community members can follow the discussion as Council reviews these items. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 13, with the Municipal Planning Commission meeting first, followed by the regular Council meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or watch live on the Town’s YouTube channel. Council agendas and meeting materials are available here.
