Subdivisions

Subdivision

Subdivision applications within the Town of Raymond are processed with the assistance of the Oldman River Regional Services Commission (ORRSC), which is contracted by the Town to receive applications and prepare them for consideration. If you are thinking about subdividing your property, your first point of contact should be ORRSC in Lethbridge, where a Subdivision Planner can answer your questions and help you determine whether your proposal is feasible before a formal application is submitted.

The Subdivision Process

Once you are ready to proceed, a subdivision application is submitted to ORRSC, who will circulate it to relevant referral agencies and municipal departments for comment and prepare the application package for the Town's decision-making process.

The application is then brought forward to the Town of Raymond's Municipal Planning Commission (MPC), which serves as the Subdivision Authority and makes the final decision on all subdivision applications. The MPC reviews the proposal against the Town's Municipal Development Plan, Land Use Bylaw, and any applicable Intermunicipal Development Plan, and may approve the subdivision with or without conditions, or refuse it with stated reasons.

If you have questions about how a subdivision proposal relates to the Town's planning requirements, you are also welcome to contact the Development Office directly.
