Council would like to announce that a statue has been purchased by Deseret Ranches of Alberta and will be placed on Broadway this spring. Talks with Deseret Ranches have been underway since last spring and Council set aside $25,000 in their 2019 Capital Plan to complete this project. Construction will begin soon and we aim to complete in time for our July 1st celebrations!
The statue and landscaped pedestal will be a welcome addition to our community and will help further our efforts to beautify mainstreet. The Dana Higa Memorial Clock will be moved to a new location on Broadway where it won’t be overshadowed by the statue. Additional centre street parking will be added in-between the new feature and current parking. The height of the statue & pedestal will be approximately 4 meters tall (13 feet), built within an approximate 4×4 meter base and will consist of two tiers of landscaped planters with irrigation and lighting.
