2011 Taxation Rates
Overview
Municipalities rely on property taxes as a major source of revenue to fund protective services, roads, administration, parks / recreation and culture. Proper administration of the tax system fairly distributes the costs of local services and programs throughout a municipality.
Alberta Education Property Tax
The Town of Raymond is responsible for collecting provincial education taxes from Raymond property owners on behalf of the provincial government. Alberta learning relies on property taxes to support education throughout the province.
Ridge Country Housing
The Town of Raymond is also responsible for collecting provincial taxes that are used to help support services that are provided to Seniors within the province.
General Information
Taxes are due on July 15th and your property taxes are based on the calendar year. If you have problems with the assessment of your property, your first step is to contact the Assessor and determine if an adjustment is appropriate. The Town of Raymond contracts the assessment of properties within Raymond to Benchmark Assessments Consultants Inc, which is based out of Lethbridge. They can be reached by calling 403.381.0535.
If you still feel that your concerns have not been addressed, you can request a tax complaint package and file a complaint with the Assessment Appeal Board Clerk who is located at the Town Office. Please read below for more information regarding the Assessment Appeal process.

Assessment Review Board
The Assessment Review Board is a quasi-judicial board with citizen board members appointed by Town Council as set out in the Municipal Government Act.
The purpose of the Board is to ensure that your current year's assessment is fair and equitable compared to other similar properties within your city.
Filing a Complaint About My Assessment
- You have 60 days to appeal following receipt of your assessment notice.
- Complaint Form and Agent Authorization forms must be used and filled out completely.
- When filing a complaint, ensure your complaint form includes all reasons for appealing and the required complaint fees.
- Additional publications and forms are available for the taxpayer on the Government of Alberta Municipal Affairs website.
- The Assessment Review Board is established by Assessment Review Board Bylaw
- Appeals of board decisions are to the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench.

Single Family Residential: All Values $25.00
Multi-Family (4 units or more) and Non-Residential: All Values $50.00
