UPDATE: The Public Hearing has been moved from June 9th to June 16th. This gives the public an extra week for feedback. The original post has been changed to reflect the new date (changes  are highlighted in bold).

The Town of Raymond intends on forming a separate legal entity called the, Sugar City Development Corporation (SCDC) to reduce the risks associated with development in Raymond and to enhance the availability and quality of future sub-divisions. In order to accomplish this, the SCDC will work with existing local developers on specific developments as its resources allow, attract outside investment to help fund new or stalled sub-divisions within the Town, and may develop subdivision and projects independently as needed.

As part of the legislative requirements outlined in sections 242-244, 347 & 354 of the Municipal Government Act a public hearing must be scheduled to allow the public opportunity to comment on the SCDC’s Business Plan and initial 5 year budget. As such, Council would like to invite the public to attend a public hearing which will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 6pm in Council Chambers, located at 210N 200W. Depending on intensity of COVID-19 restrictions in place by the Province of Alberta, in person seating at the public hearing may be limited. The public hearing will be live streamed and comments submitted online will be accepted at the hearing. If you would like to make a formal presentation to Council on this matter, please make arrangements no later than Thursday, June 11th, so it can be included in the agenda package and shown as part of the live stream.

If you have any questions or would like to physically attend the public hearing in person, please contact Kurtis Pratt, Chief Administrative Officer or Greg Robinson, Community Development Director at your convenience.
