There are a few minor amendments being proposed to the Procedure Bylaw. The amendments will bring Council procedures more in-line with the MGA legislation. First, the way Council Committee Reports are recorded in the minutes is being changed to ensure compliance with section 208 of the MGA. According to the province, minutes must be recorded “without note or comment.”

Second, pursuant to s. 199 of the MGA, sections on the use of electronic communications (e.g. video conferences, phone attendance, etc…) are being added to the bylaw to clarify how Council treats the use of technology during a Council Meeting.

Lastly, an amendment has been made to allow Council to make motions to go in and out of closed session during a Committee of the Whole meeting.

All proposed changes are in red, click here to view. Council welcomes public feedback, please review and contact Abe Tinney to forward any comments or suggestions to Council prior to 3rd Reading.
