Canadian Badlands

Canadian Badlands Ltd. is an organization that is
dedicated to establishing the badlands area of
southeast Alberta as the next tourism icon
destination that will complement the role played by the Canadian Rockies in attracting visitors
to Alberta.
The Canadian Badlands covers a large area of the province,
encompassing the area east of Highway 2 stretching from Stettler
in the north of the Montana border. A second icon destination will
keep visitors longer in the province and bring them back on future
visits. The majority of tourists and tourism revenue within Alberta
can be attributed to Albertans travelling within the province.
Therefore, in addition to making tourists aware of the many
attractions throughout southeast Alberta, a primary role of
Canadian Badlands Ltd. is to assist its member communities to
both enhance their existing attractions and develop new reasons
for travel throughout the area.

Southern Alberta Alternative Energy Partnership

The objective of the strategy is to facilitate the development of alternate energy systems and attract corresponding businesses. This allows our region to continue to build on our economic strengths as an alternative energy provider, while also introducing methods by which individuals and organizations in the region can become more self-sufficient energy users.
The three partner organizations, Economic Development Lethbridge, SouthGrow Regional Initiative and Alberta SouthWest Regional Alliance have agreed to work collaboratively on this initiative, given that all three organizations have defined objectives towards this goal. Together, this group represents 37 municipalities in the south central region of the province.
Based on our available natural resources, existing expertise and established developments, the initiative will focus on 3 streams of alternative energy:
Solar
Wind
Bio-Energy – (including ethanol, bio-diesel and bio-mass).
